Investing in the Future of Utah Healthcare Technology
The Utah HIMSS Chapter is proud to offer two $1,000 scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students dedicated to healthcare information and management systems. Applications are now open for the 2026-2027 academic year. Thanks to all of our applicants! Scholarship winners will be announced at the Spring Conference on April 24, 2026.

Detailed Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for consideration of this award, all eligible applicants must fulfill these minimum requirements:
- The primary occupation of the applicant at the time the scholarship is awarded must be that of student in an accredited undergraduate, Masters, or PhD program related to the healthcare information management systems field. The specific degree program is not a critical factor, although it is expected that programs similar to those in industrial engineering, management engineering, operations research, healthcare informatics, computer science and information systems, hospital information, nursing, medicine, telecommunications, etc. will predominate.
- Student Status: Must be enrolled at an accredited Utah-based college or university at the time the scholarship is awarded.
- Residency: Must be a Utah resident or eligible under WICHE/WRGP tuition status.
- Academic Level: Undergraduate applicants must be at least a first-term junior when the scholarship is awarded.

Enrollment Status: Applicants must have at least one remaining semester of enrollment following the award.
- UHIMSS Status: In order to receive the scholarship, students must hold UHIMSS student membership status and be in good standing with the Utah HIMSS Chapter. Students may apply for membership after submitting their scholarship application but must obtain and maintain membership prior to fully accepting any awarded scholarship. Membership is $49.
- Exclusions: Previous winners are ineligible.

Participation: Award winners must be willing to speak for 5-10 minutes at a UHIMSS event about their academic achievements, career plans and the value of HIMSS and be expected to participate in the UHIMSS Student Liaison Committee during their award year.
Completed application & all supporting materials must be submitted by February 28, 2026. The scholarship winners will be announced at the annual event in late April.
